API is “active pharmaceutical ingredient”, or an ingredient in a drug product that is biologically active. In the case of MGC Oral Solution products, API refers to extracted cannabinoids, whether in a purified form or as a full spectrum extract, that are added to a compatible carrier oil to achieve a specific target potency in the final dosage form.
There is no evidence to suggest that purified cannabinoids (i.e. 98 % of all other natural plant compounds removed) are “better” than cannabis products that retain these compounds. Natural plant compounds found in full spectrum (less refined) cannabis products include minor cannabinoids and a variety of aromatic terpenes.
Both THC and CBD-containing products are controlled substances in Australia. A commonwealth Special Access Scheme Category B application will need to be lodged by your treating physician to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) – part of the Australian Department of Health

Depending on where you live, a state application may be required as well. Please ask your doctor to contact [email protected] for more information on which forms are required for each state.
